Floral Freeze Drying
Freeze drying flowers is a specialized way to preserve blossoms so that
the original shape, size and color are retained through the drying process.
Many different flowers require special preparation before going into the freeze dry
machine, in order for them to dry properly and look their best.
With almost thirty years in the business, Shanel's has learned the nuances
of floral preservation through experience. Shanel's Flowers is
Silicon Valley's first floral preservation showroom; preserving beautiful
Bridal Bouquets and special tribute flowers since 1989 in Campbell, CA.
Eight Step Process
Freeze drying is an eight step process, which slowly dries the flowers
over two to three weeks. Before drying, flowers are ultra-hydrated using
floral food, then cleaned up and dipped in a specially formulated non-toxic
preservative, which prevents brittle blooms. This polymer will help
when it is time to frame the flowers, allowing some flexibility in the petals.
Once the bouquet is freeze dried, care is taken to touch up
and restore each bouquet to its original beauty. Some bouquets require
the addition of flowers for the restoration. This is generally included in
the price of preservation. Shanel's Flowers will preserve your bouquet intact,
unless otherwise specified. Please consider framing the flowers in order for them to
last through the years–this will prevent damage by breaking, dust and
insects which can eat the preserved blooms.
Our happy clients often say,
"my bridal frame is my favorite
keepsake from the wedding!"
